That is what I received the other day and how exciting it was to see that it had been typed on a very old typewriter on a very old sheet of aged paper from an old book! Really smitten by this gesture and just wanted to share with my readers of such a wonderful idea!

PAJAMA PARTY!!!

What a lovely day it was this afternoon to be spending a delicious time with great friends, great food in sweet private banquet room at Vigilucci's Seafood & Steakhouse in Carlsbad! A great group of girls came out to celebrate this terrific lady's birthday in a pajama party style! No, we didn't dress in sleep attire for the occasion but did however do something much better! Everyone was required to bring a new pair of pajamas for the white elephant gift exchange. A very nice selection of sleep attire was now up for the taking! Oh la la....too much fun! It was a beautiful day for a beautiful friend and all her beautiful girl posse! Thank you so much for sharing your special day with all of us girls this afternoon! This lovely luncheon you had put together was both thoughtful and most generous!!! I enjoyed today immensely and the company of your great friends! Love , Andie

I don't know what I am going to do with these textile bobbins yet but I just couldn't rest the temptation! I seem to be doing that a lot lately and quite honestly should have a better sense of control! Well, I think I am seeing the new Season of Spring emerging sooner than anticipated and just want to freshen up my studio a bit with new and exciting finds . So I will continue to keep you posted on what I came up with along the way!

HOOT! HOOT! A BABY SHOWER FOR DOMINIC!

Oh Boy! Another Owl themed baby shower today with a really exciting candy jar dessert table! Don't mind me tasting a few of those before I dropped them into their candy dishes! I just tried a new flavor of jelly of beans which are to die for...they are chocolate covered jelly beans. They were pretty awesome on their own and combined with the french vanilla jelly bean ....it was pure magic! Well, speaking of magic, there is this delightful dessert table I threw together. Just kidding, I did take my time making the center illustration with the owls and trees, and I did make a few menu cards in frames there for the table, and I did make those really cute tags for the cupcake flags and also in the shape of leaves to tie on the apothecary jars and the wood blocks which my brother made me! Thanks Brian! It was my Christmas present this year which made me very happy because I couldn't wait to use them for an occasion like this one! Hoot! Hoot!

An amazing vintage film reel mailer case arrived just yesterday! I wish the reel actually had film on it but it hadn't. Otherwise, remarkably, the case was historic enough! So excited am I to own a little bit of someones history in the making, no pun intended, with this very handsome carrying case! Love my new find and the Brownie Flash Six - 20 too!

This is a very somber and sad day for me indeed. My heart broke over the sad news of my dear sweet Jessica's passing today. Her daily fan page kept me afloat of her daily aspirations, her courage, her devotion, her will, her strength and at times some of her weakness. Like so many, I was her biggest fan who only gave her mere words of support and encouragement as she braved this fierce battle on her own. Yes, she was blessed by a loving family that fought along the side with her......along with 35,000 fans on Facebook to send loving thoughts and prayers when she needed us most! I will remember her always as she was dear in my heart and she has given me such a gift for knowing her. She never walked alone....as she was one beautiful and courageous little girl that had the whole world loving her! God, has now welcomed Jessica into his home where she can be happy and full of Joy for Joy is what she shared when she was with us! I will think of you always Jessica...with love and admiration, Andie.

One customer of mine got the party started early! These cupcakes were a blast to make partially because the majority of them were "Intoxicated"! Guests were singing to the tunes of Tiramisu with Rum, Malibu Rum and some Frangelico Liquers in a few of these cupcakes! Thank you Karen for asking me to be a part of the festivities and allowing me to fit in the the sweet and perfect endings to your fine catering! Euro Car OC put on another amazing Holiday Gala this year to benefit Childhelp! Ditzie Cakes had the honor once again to create a memorable display for the evening to tantalize the guests! I had one particular gentleman who mentioned that he felt like he was dreaming as he stood in front of a wonderland of chocolate fantasies and heavenly sweet delights! That certainly made me very pleased to hear him say this! It was a wonderland and most definitely a feast to behold as I created new desserts last night! There were the Hazelnut Mousse Shots which were surprisingly the first to go! Then I made my new Black Forest cupcake and my holiday favorite, Sugar Plum Fairy. It has no plums what so ever but a Grand Marnier cranberry cake and a Grand Marnier white chocolate butter cream frosting. Linzer cookies were also part of the menu.....loved them all and all of them were gone by the end of the evening! Cheers!

Meine Güte! Fröhliche und Leker! This version is so much better than the traditional German Black Forest Cake. I definitely made sure the chocolate base of the cake was full of chocolate goodness with hints of cherry and almonds to delight the senses. What better to have made this more sensational......it was the Kirschwasser cherry filling and a creamy whipped topping with just a hint of cocoa to finish it this cupcake off!

Fall is in the air and there are familiar comforts that the season brings. I love making mile high apple pies, pumpkin bourbon pies for Thanksgiving Day and the Holidays. Nothing smells better than a delicious pie baking in the oven with hints of spice lingering through the whole house. And so with a little remaining pastry dough, I love to whip up a rustic gallette. Couldn't be easier to toss a few pears with sugar, butter and spices and bake it off for a very short time! This pear gallette I had topped off with some leftover salted caramel and a little whip cream! Perfect endings!

I'm never going back! I mean that I am never going back to caramel found in your local market when discovering a new recipe that turned out extraordinarily well! The caramel is delightfully rich and full bodied .....not that runny sugary stuff that might work great on a vanilla sundae! A little bit of blue skies, the warmth of a Southern California day for October, a perfect location of the Fairbanks Ranch, Del Mar and a beautiful couple made this an ideal wedding day! I must admit that having beautiful pictures to remember every aspect of a special occasion is wonderful for collecting memories...but by far, to have a crew from Cutis Nemetz capture a new take on it IS how you should remember it all! I had the pleasure of watching Adam Welch and Hilary's imagination set free with artistry! It was so wonderful to see yet impressive "still moments" become a moving work of art! Well, I was overwhelmed with enthusiasm and I think that if any couple should be getting married or family that just wants to capture a special event ought to consider adding this brilliant medium to their collection! MY NEW VINTAGE FIND! EIGHT TOPOGRAPHY MAPS!

It's so nice to find something unique, rare and special and then have it come delivered to your mail box! I had recently come across a site that I am just in love with! In her store is the most amazing precious finds and one find that I couldn't pass up this time around. My youngest brother just recently got engaged and I offered him and my soon to be sister in law an engagement present! I thought that it just might be kind of nice to do a romantic photoshoot in November sometime.....not sure when? But I have a great concept and a great theme that I think will suit the two perfectly. I came across these eight maps and when they are opened.... they are simply stunning. They are typography maps all the way from the East Coast! I figured it might be appropriate to have the two overlooking a plot of land since they are literally beginning to do the same. Like the pioneers did back in the day when they came out West, surveyed a piece of ideal land, put a stake in it and then built a home and wonderful memories. So this is my idea and there will be plenty more to build off of this theme as I find more great stuff along the way!

These little lovelies sure have been a crowd pleaser lately. Especially because the Seasons have changed and we are moving into the chill of Fall and Winter in which a toasted fire and hot cocoa seem so appropriate. So far, Ditzie Cakes has managed to tryout a few flavors such as the Cookies and Cream and this Salted Caramel. I am thrilled and possibly over zealous about trying out a lot more! On top of Hidden Hills in Yorba Linda last Thursday evening was a specular event collaborated by Skyline Events and Dot the I's Eventz! I recently made a post about the property where this fun night took place. So many vendors shared their talents and catered delectable and tantalizing foods! Loved 118 Degrees and my new favorite Joe Youkhan's Tasting Spoon Truck! The Band played all night long while event planners, photographers and other vendors enjoyed a few cocktails and sweet desserts by Ditzie Cakes! I can't thank my great friends enough for helping me that evening....Laurie and Amy you are the best!!!! Also thank you David Tosti and Laurie too for these great pictures you had taken before the display had all been devoured! It was a great evening and I must thank Irene Izaguirre Geithner from Dot the I's Eventz for having me be a delicious part of the night!

So after all the brides finished up with either their fittings or having searched for their perfect dream dress...they were ready to head upstairs from The White Dress into Tosti Studio's for coffee and cupcakes! The Salon was filled with a flurry of girls all wanting to see the latest hair styles, sample the latest shine serums and shampoos and get advice from a professional hair stylist on Thursday night! Victoria's Spa and Salon in Mission Viejo is owned by a marvelous lady by the name of Kari Cook who takes great pride in her store, her products and her staff. A group of us had the pleasure to participate in her Customer Appreciation Night to raffle off a "Girl's Night Out!" certificate and much much more. The suspense was tearing me apart as I waited anxiously for my new camera bag to arrive! This bag is made perfectly for the girl who wants to work an event stylishly! The gray and yellow is my favorite color combination and when I saw it...... it was a match made in heaven! {Wish I could say this about a the love relationship in my life.} This bag is gorgeous and when my present arrived, it was tied ever so beautifully with scraps of aged yellow pages from a old book and a lovely distressed photo of an old barn. It was a beautiful day to be married yesterday and I couldn't think of any other couple who is so deserving to have found love! When Melissa had contacted me months ago to save the date on my calendar for a quaint little party for 60 guests.... I had never known that July 2nd was going to be her wedding day! It wasn't until the week before the date that she informed me of her true occasion .....which certainly put a whole new twist on things! Ditzie Cakes new perspective on this out of the ordinary - quaint little party was motivation to create something extra special for this couple! I was so delighted to be a part of their day! It never ceases to amaze me how Ditzie Cakes brings the most amazing people into my life...... for this is the greatest gift ever....to know such gracious people and ultimately have shared moments like these! Sweet Sophia is turning one year old today!!! You don't know how much we all love the Little Pheefers! I loved these gray straws from BHLDN and had to get them in the black too! So I designed little circles with these adorable coordinating patterns to hang on some Divine Twine. These are pretty easy to make but the stringing requires a little patience!

Her talented son Andrew was graduating from High School and will be following in the footsteps of a very musically inclined path just as his mother. Jolene had chosen this particular theme because it was her son's leading role in his last High School play. I couldn't be more thrilled to create this stunning theme as it was one of my favorite musicals and I heard she really did an amazing job at creating a dramatic display for the dessert table too! The days are counting down to Mel and Rey's Second Chance photoshoot this very Sunday! Here are a few things that I have been working on in preperation to this magical day! The glittered sparrows took a little time to cut out but I am loving the Martha Stewart results. The second idea I had was to create a tag that I thought was very symbolic of LOVE in general as both ultimately hold the key for eachother's love. The couple, as you will soon find out, are a terrific combination of classical and well refined with a little bit of edge! This is going to be fun to create a dessert table to compliment their style!

Sweet Jessica Rees.... this girl had won my heart a million times over with her faith and beautiful courage! I became a big fan of her's when she posted her fan page on Facebook about a month ago. Well she certainly had managed to reach that in record time and now has succeeded a fan base of 12,326 as we speak and growing! As some of you may or may not know, she is battling an inoperable brain tumor and thus created her Cause and a wonderful organization called "Joy Jars. org" has inspired so many of us! I read her postings daily......where each and every day she holds -dear in my heart- pockets full of sunshine! You brighten my day Jessica! It was the event I had been long planning and baking for! "LIDO GOES POP!" was worth the effort as these treats definitely flew off the dessert table last night! It took less than 2 hours for these tantalizing treats make a good impression and had all disappeared in record time. What a fabulous night it was! Making a presentation with the upmost style and class for your next birthday celebration? Well, Charlie Palmer- Bloomingdales in Costa Mesa definitely has such class! Kacey Elkins of Miraposa Bridal Boutique was planning such an occasion for her dear father who was turning 60! A lovely string quartet played, an opera singer graced the guests with her amazing voice and a little jazz soon followed with a lovely birthday song written by Kacey's husband Steve! I had the pleasure to hear a little bit of it when I was styling the dessert table! Wow...this is such incredible talent that I have just been priviledged to hear! Kacey's mother, Cyndi created the stunning arrangements that you see on the tables. If I ever need help in the floral arrangements.....I would love to call on her! Can you believe that these creations are simply a nice hobby of hers? Sometimes, really that is the best kind! It truly was an extraordinary night surrounded by a beautiful loving family and dear friends to celebrate Bill Taormina's 60th birthday! Hip Hip Hooray! PS~ I think Bill liked the personalized flag picks I made for him!!! Yay!

MATCHA TEATIME!

Oh! The flavor of pure ceremonial green tea otherwise known as Matcha. This tea was served centuries ago for royalty and so I know that each and everytime I take a sip of this tea it is with gratitude and great respect. I love this earthy flavor in so many ways and now it has found a new place in this variation of the Matcha Matcha Cupcake! This creation has both the matcha ingredient in the cake as well as in the white chocolate buttercream frosting which I like to garnish with more sprinkles of white chocolate! Now....to just sit down, relax and enjoy this scrumptious delight with a nice ritual of hot tea!
