SEX AND THE CITY 2....DITZIE STYLE!

Last night was the evening I was really looking forward to! This was it.....the Sex and the City 2 premiere hosted by Riviera Magazine and Macy's South Coast.....and a little catering by Ditzie Cakes. The event started off as pre-party with cocktails from SKYY Vodka and a little catering by Creme de la Creme and yours truly. (BTW~ That's me!) After a little shopping in the Macy's Impulse Department , some mingling and sweet eats, we headed off to see the premiere of Sex and the City 2. What an evening of fun it was and what truly a good way to laugh out loud in the company of girlfriends when we saw the movie!

My BFF came with me and she took these wonderful photos of the evening! Thank you so much Laurie!!! I hope to have a few more coming soon to add to the post but I couldn't wait to get the party started!

SO...THIS IS IT!

So this is it.....the moment I have been waiting for! I couldn't wait to tell you that I have been preparing for a big event that is coming up this Tuesday~ May 25th. I had been contacted by Riviera Magazine a couple weeks back who had approached me with a few events they had in mind to use my services. For this amazing event we will be catering the premiere of Sex and the City 2! I am truely a lucky girl...because not only do I get to put together a cupcake and dessert table feast but I get to see the premiere of Sex and the City too!
As of today, I finished these truffle pops...you know the ones that I designed that cute little tag for in my last post! I really do think that they came out exactly like I wanted them to turn out.
I will keep you posted when the cupcakes are finished and will have more pictures to show you the day of the premiere.... It's just FABULOUS!

USC - GRADUATION DAY!

I suppose it's that time of year again where college's are releasing packs of eager book savvy driven students into the real world! Too funny... I remember those days! My great customer Laurie S. (the one who just adopted a baby from Korea named Lucy.... oh my gosh, she is so cute!) ordered these for her cousin who just graduated from USC on Friday. I hope that these USC Flags will bring a wave of excitement for the new grad and a big hoorah to the adventurous road which lies ahead of him! All our best for that road to success!

PRETTY ZEBRA CHEESECAKE CUPCAKES!

I have been designing small tags lately which resemble a "chic safari" theme for an upcoming event which I am going to keep a secret for awhile! I am so excited to be a part of this sensational event that will be held up in South Coast Plaza near the end of May. I don't want to ruin the surprise....so I promise to keep you posted! After making these white chocolate cheesecakes for an order on Mother's Day, I am thinking that these cupcakes would fit into the "chic safari" theme rather well......
I can't wait to tie these adorable ditzie cake tags on those wild truffle pops!

SNICKERING SNICKER POST!

Apparently I should give credit where credit is due! I would now like to make an honorable mention to the person who gave me such a great concept for a cupcake. I failed to do that it my last post and my mechanic really was bummed about that. I feel so bad Chip! My mechanic has been so good to me keeping my my 79' VW convertible going for all these 10 years (OMG- has it been that long?) or bringing it back to life for that matter! So occasionally when I see him for a VW crisis, which has been often, I will bring him and his staff a few cupcakes. This one happened to be of his personal choice.....the Snicker's!
Thank you Chip for your support and your great auto service! The OC has to know that Unique -Imports is the best in town! And if they don't...now they will!
So tomorrow..... you will be able to fix my radio right? =)

PS~ I just wanted to let Chip know ~ if by chance he reads up on my blog again LOL ~ I really am soooo grateful that you helped me out today with that radio! You are the best!!!! And BTW ....your restored '77 Sting Ray is awesome! You know that would be something you could post on your blog....uh, when you get one going one of these days! People have got to see it to believe it!!!!

DITZIE CAKES IS FEELING MORE COUTURE!

Just in case you have been noticing a few changes here on my blog....don't worry! Ditzie Cakes is just going through some redesigning lately! This is a new label that I designed for my cupcake boxes and I am thinking that my new business cards will have a similiar theme.
There are still many pages to rework on the website and I am just dying to bring it to you! I keep hoping that with each and every new order it will be a flavor that I haven't all ready taken photos of before! There is a new and exciting look to the website as well as the addition of new gourmet flavors! Uh....yum! So all you cupcake fans, just wait and see what Ditzie Cakes has whipped up in the kitchen as well as in the "Couture Shoppe" coming soon!

DITZIE COUTURE GIFT BASKET!

Lucky me that I just got a request to put together one of my Ditzie Couture Gift Baskets for a customer! With the new website going up soon, this was a perfect opportunity to test out my visions I had for the couture gift baskets. I am hoping that there will be many style orientations that I can do depending on what the customer has custom ordered. It will be fun to see them personalized and really never looking all the same. This one includes one of my ditzie couture tank tops and a few cupcake tattoos as well as a gift certificate for one dozen of their choice! I just wanted you to take a look inside before I wrapped it all up in cellephane and tied it up with a big black bow.......

DITZIE CAKES HITS THE LIQUER AGAIN!

That which we call a rose by any other name would taste so darn sweet! This one is my latest flavor called Tequila Rose....Yes thoughtfully named after the alcoholic beverage. The guys at work gave me a request the other day and I really like the way it turned out. It sure made me crave a strawberry margarita this evening! It looks so deceivingly sweet .....but you will soon be feeling that tequila sunrise!

Now this one is my absolute favorite! Mojitos have become one of my favorite drinks.... especially the Asian Pear Mojito as the one they offer at PF Changs. This one doesn't have the sour pear pucker but it has main ingredients of a perfect mojito! And don't you love my new Anthropologie Beast Platter?!!! Thank you Laurie for the Anthropologie gift card....it was well spent..... I love my beast platter!

GETTING MY DOUBLE SHOT OF ESPRESSO!

Mmmmm! Having a nice cup of coffee along with a ditzie cake "Double Shot Espresso" cupcake in the morning...is so nice!

FLEUR DE LIS A LA 64TH BIRTHDAY!

Seems to be a perfect day for another pink and black combination! This was just a small cupcake favor for neat lady celebrating her 64th Birthday! Just a little extra request that went along with those adorable choo choo trains for Christain's baby shower shown in the post above. You know.....boy's baby shower's can turn out so darn stinking cute!

So back to that pink sanding sugar....that is so much fun.....need to do more of that in the future!

HAUTE BACHELORETTE!

This is soooo Haute! Black and hot pink are about the sexiest color combination you can put together.....but then of course ditzie cakes is partial with anything that has pink in it! What is so special about this particular cupcake order is the fact that a really great customer found me online and she apparently lives all the way up in the Napa Wine Country. Her great quest for the best looking cupcakes in the OC led her to my sweet cupcake shoppe! I am very honored and touched by her discovery. I am hoping that these cupcakes will delight the bachelorette and her wild friends this evening as well as that fabulous champagne Norma was raving ..... Veuve Clicquot! Yep! Champagne and cupcakes always sounds good for me! Have fun girls!!!

PASSION FRUIT!

I never associated this beautiful flowering vine called the passiflora which my Mother had been growing in her backyard when I was growing up in Pasadena to the passion fruit itself. Who knew that it would take me 42 years! Well, everything is learnt in due time I suppose and especially when you are thinking of buying the plant to grow for yourself....maybe? I used to be facinated with passion flower and of her of course telling me the symbolism that Catholics had associated it with the flower. So anyway, how appropriate for Easter that I should have these every so delicious passion fruit cupcakes for dessert! They are my latest flavor and I am dying to eating one of these on Easter Sunday again!

CELEBRATING HER 3RD ANNIVERSARY!

This is sure to be another good reason to celebrate! My good neighbor Lisa is celebrating yet another cherished year ,as she and most of her friends and family's are also grateful in participating, of her successful recovery from an almost fateful aneurysm. We are so grateful for her recovery and for the outstanding doctors and paramedics there at Mission Hospital! As Lisa has every year so far, asked me to share in her gratitude to all the people who had assisted their healing hands that day and throughout the duration of her recovery. And so this year, I am excited that I was able to change it up a little from the still fabulously good cupcakes to the truffle brownie pops this time!
I thought that we ought to make it personal ~with a wonderful note and Psalm suggested by Lisa ~would make this Easter Basket a perfect touch to the occasion. This is a personal thank you for all of you with the magic touch of compassion , care and healing that you constantly give to people in crisis and need. I truley Thank You too!
So I just followed up Lisa and she let me know that the truffle brownie pops were a hit! She decided to divie them up to those who were an integral part of her healing and these people were:
Dr. Lampert and Angiogram team(Lisa's 1st surgery to stop the bleeding)
Dr. Jackson, Darren (his PA) and Wilda(Office Mgr.)- Dr. Jackson is her Neurosurgeon
Mark Stevens and Mitch Ocasio (paramedics)
Terry, Kelli and Tane Sedgewick(personal trainer, wife and son)
Peter Bastone and Executive Team (CEO of Mission Hospital)
SICU Team of Nurses( she left a whole basket for them!!!!)
Her personal small group of friends!
.......She had fun!!! And that make me a happy baker!!!

ROMANTIC BRIDAL GARDEN SHOWER!

A wonderful neighbor of mine just down the street from me had a very good reason to contact me! Her son is getting married and she and her best friend Donna were going to put together a fabulous bridal shower for her daughter in law to be. It was so funny that they mentioned that they wanted it to exude a romantic garden and went to Pottery Barn to fetch some of those adorable watering cans! When they mentioned it, I had to tell them that I just got a few of those myself for the Easter which I was planning for. They would be great for those other splendid occasions that need to express a romantic "in the garden" look too! Aren't those water cans the sweetest things you have ever seen? Love them!

ESTANCIA IN LA JOLLA

If there is any resort here in California that has the most beautiful and ideal setting, it is the Estancia Resort in La Jolla. I had the opportunity to discover this gem when I catered Emily and Brian's wedding last October. Miguel Pola was an additional photographer that day to Marc Weisberg and took these gorgeous photos I, oh just nabbed from his blog....hope that's ok Miguel? Aren't they beautiful though?
Well, last night I was doing a little research and came across a lovely blog posting from the event coordinator from the Estancia Hotel! I was thrilled to get just more than an admirable mention (posted here) from the Director of Catering, Erica Hinshaw. She actually used some of my photos that were from the Wedding that day! Anyway, thank you so much for mentioning my cupcake business amongst the elite services there in San Diego! That's just Fabulous!

AURELIA'S QUICKY BRIDAL SHOWER!

Aurelia and her finace' Josh are eloping this weekend and they will be tieing the knot up in Vegas! Well, the girls here at work just couldn't let her off so easily so we decided to have a surprise party for her before she just took off leaving us like that!

Good thing too that she hates surprises..... Well, this one brought tears to her eyes and we were all pleased that it went over really well! She loved it! We are all really happy for you Aurelia! Best wishes to you both....hugs!

LAURIE'S BABY SHOWER!

Four more days and the little arrival of Lucy will be cradeling in her new mothers arms! My dear customer Laurie whom I have known since the year I began this cupcake business is celebrating again with a lovely little girl which the family is adopting from Korea. She most definitely will be loved and will have a big sister to watch over her too.
Laurie's close friends Tina and Kristen made her place of the party look amazing. And I mean close too...Kristen is about a house next door and Tina just lives a few blocks away. I would love to have my BFF that close! Anyway, I am hoping that they can send a few pictures because I would love for you to see what they did with the hot pink and lime theme! Truely, after seeing the diplay, they ought to consider going into business because it looked that incredible. So, I hope to have pictures that they will show me soon? I do go on ...but Tina and Cynthia should really consider it...... just wow!
So all of my best wishes go out to the family with your new bundle of joy! Lucy couldn't have picked a better family to be apart of!

SNICKERS! SNICKERS SNICKERS!

Who doesn't like a good hearty Snicker's Bar with that perfect balance of caramel,nougat and salty peanuts? I never thought that I would be attempting to make it in a cupcake but someone put me up to the test. Not bad for my first run.....but I know that I can make it better the second time around. I put a nice fluffy caramel filling and cut a handsome piece of snickers for the filling inside the center of the cupcake. Next time around, I want a gooey caramel! Needs to be gooey!
The frosting turned out acceptable. I think it had a nice fluffy marshmallow consistecy that recreated well to the snickers mousse center. So, it needs a little more work....but if I had just a few more extra Snicker Cupcakes around I would have inhaled them! So I guess I am glad that they are gone.... I think =( !

GO CHARGERS! GO COWBOYS!

GO TEAM! Well, it looks like it is going to be a fun evening tonight for a wonderful lady I have been wanting to repay for the longest time. I was so happy to hear that she would take me up on my offer for a dozen of her choice for graciously taking the time advertise ditzie cakes on her blog! I came across Shelley Bostrom's site named Patricia Ann Design's when I saw my "Girly Skull" Pattern advertised in the Hernshaw's children clothing magazine. I had to check the PAD website out and see for myself the many sweet ideas she had done with my design....
LOVE them all! At one time, I had managed to give a few examples you might have all ready seen on my side bar. I couldn't resist buying up a few of these cute travel blankies as well! Check out her lovely store here in Lake Forest.... the celebs seem to adore her line as well!

SWEET VALENTINE!

Romance is in the air and that special day is just around the corner! Well for those of you in love, you just happen to be smitten every day. What's nice about this occasion though, you can express it lovingly with whom you adore and you can even make your sorrowful breakup a bite sweeter! Oh! I mean a bit sweeter! Shower your love with cupcakes topped with red roses or give your BFF the support they need after just mercilessly being split up..... like a cupcake she will remember!
